2015-16 Funding For Excellence Faculty Research Awards Announced

The newly established Funding For Excellence Faculty awards program attracted 46 applications from each of our 11 academic units and 26 academic departments.  Applications received represented a diverse segment of research and scholarly activity from across the entire University. The total request for support was $627,942. The applications were reviewed by a panel of faculty members from across UMKC and, 7 applications were awarded totaling $101,790. 

The funded applications for the 2015-16 are:

"Commissioning, Performing, and Recording New Music for Trumpet and Organ"  Keith Benjamin, Professor, Instrument Studies, Conservatory of Music and Dance

"Carbon Nanotube and Graphene Nanoribbon based Multijunction Solar Cell - Breaking the Efficiency Barrier of Photovoltaic Devices using Graphene Nanotechnology", Masud Chowdhury, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Computing and Engineering

Revolutionizing Sensing Technology with Conductive Plastic 3D Printing, Travis Fields, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering

“Wide Open Town”, Diane Mutti-Burke, Associate Professor, Department of History, College of Arts and Sciences

"Investigation of novel effectors of the circadian kinases Doubletime/Casein kinase Iδ", Jeffrey Price, Professor, Division of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, School of Biological Sciences
